corner view:  dish

I invite you for a visit into the corner of my kitchen where I do the dishes each and every day, one day after another, one dish after another.   How very exciting -- right?  There is a sink in the corner and a dishwasher just below,  two pretty typical kitchen essentials.

But wait. . . just behind those cabinet doors . . . something more exciting awaits you.
Voila!

I cannot begin to tell you the wonders of this system.   In our little kitchen I actually use parts of it for everyday storage, but the convenience of being able to dry dishes hear, tucked away from sight. . . nice.  It baffles me that it is not a standard in American kitchens.

Thanks Joyce for this week's theme.

(A wee confession:  the dishwasher does my dishes, day after day, dish after dish, but I do load that dishwasher! )

You have a gorgeous kitchen and what a fun little rack. I have a dishwasher to, but it is still work. I am working on teaching the boys how to unload it.

I think most households in the US have a dishwasher, and so they don't need a dish rack to let dishes drip and dry. I have two such racks, and no dishwasher. Personally, I'd go for the average american household system:).

Even with a dishwasher in the house, there are still many, many , many times that our dishes are hand-washed and left to dry on an unsightly rack next to the sink. I do rather the spaciouness of the average American kitchen ( my sister's pantry is as big as my entire kitchen) a lot, though. We just learn to adjust one day at a time :)

Lovely kitchen! Regarding Ankara...we loved it but I think a large part of that is because our friends' shared their favorite parts with us. It is not as initially charming as other parts of Turkey, but it does have some interesting areas. Would highly recommend a family trip to Turkey...especially Cappadochia, that was our favorite part!

I want to comment on your great dish rack, but I can't because I'm too in love with your cute kitchen. It's adorable! You're making me want to fix-up mine!

I like how neatly you put away your dishes on that rack. I always have a mess there ;-)

I agree with you...I can't quite imagine a kitchen without my cupboard drying rack (although mine is not as "neat" as yours!). I love the print on your curtains!

those racks are, indeed, dead handy (I think my grandma has them, must be a southern thing).

dishes ahoy. I actually like to do the dishes manually. therapeutical, I find it.

Cute kitchen ... I like those kind of racks too. Have seen them in some Spanish kitchens (some without dish washers then).
