Memorial Day

Here's hoping some fresh cherries are a part of your Memorial Day celebrations!

These beauties are available at roadside stands in our area. I bought 3 kilos from a kind woman who was sitting amid a orchard of ripe, red cherries just barely hanging on to their branches in nearby Castegnero. Get them while you can as they won't last much longer :)

I LOVE cherries! I miss living in the Seattle area where they were so fresh every summer. How wonderful to be able to live in an area with cherry orchards. I am jealous!

I bought my first bag of cherries this weekend. I ate the entire bag myself. I get to look forward to a few more weeks of cherry goodness, though I'm sure they aren't as sweet as the ones you have right from the trees.

I love cherries - my favourite fruit - and those look delicious. Right now there are only a few unripe, overpriced poor-looking things available in the market. I am waiting for the Syrian summer cherries to find their way down here, as they are my favourites.
