I Had My Doubts

When I returned from Germany last week, I discovered that my tulips had sprouted -- my first-ever, will-it-work, did-I-plant-them-deep-enough, I'm-so-anxious, is-there-enough-light, did-those-cats-ruin-them, how-will-I-know, fret-fret-fret. . . tulips.

That, my friends, has made my week. Each morning before leaving for school, Maddy and I inspect the progress. I am pleased to report that things are going smoothly.

It won't be long. It won't be long.

Isn't that one of the most thrilling feelings in the world....green, success, new growth? Can't wait until they bloom! Wish we could grow tulips here but like Louisiana it doesn't really get cold enough and I just don't have the energy or space to deal with them in my refrigerator. But when we lived near Seattle, I loved our tulips. Happy Spring!

It is an amazing sense of fulfillment. . . so much so that I feel a bit silly. It does inspire me to create a lovely garden in our little plot of land in the back of the house. This will be a first for me. I am encountering lots of "firsts" since purchasing our first home. It's a good thing.
