Un sacco di coriandoli!

We joined friends in Camisano Vicentino, a town east of Vicenza, for a bit of Carnevale festivities recently.

A parade rolled through the streets of the Northern Italian town -- a parade with floats obviously crafted by the local citizenry (no Kern family here).

It was kitsch, in the best way that something can be kitsch.

Both sides of the street were lined with eager costumed revelers. I supplied the beads to our Carnival goers. Just couldn't help myself.

Each tractor-pulled float was led by a group of performers -- moms, dads, children, grandmas, and grandpas alike -- dressed in the theme of the float, and each one pumped out popular disco music.

We really enjoyed the tons of coriandoli that was tossed from the floats, by the performers, at the performers, by our children, by our friends, by strangers, and even by confetti-blasting “canons.”
