I recently spent an afternoon with the Moms from the asilo. They totally put down one of the private schools and completely praised the other of the two that I had written about previously. They collectively seemed to think that it will be nearly impossibile to secure a spot in the coveted school. (Isn't it funny how some things are universal? I could easily have this same conversation in the States.)
This should be interesting. Yes, Madelyn still has another school year in the asilo we love so much . . . but evidently you have to be on top of this school stuff . . . have to get a strategy, to get your connections in order. (At least, this is the impression that I get. Granted, my comprehension is at times a bit off. ) Evidently there are many Italian families who are also looking for full day schools and the pickings are slim.
The school actually has a website, which although it appears a bit amateurish, is, in a way, very high tech.
The irony in all of this is that Maddy often asks us when she will be able to go the American or "English" school -- you know, the one adjacent to the place I work, which is next door to where Mr. Duncan works. That's the irony.
