After arriving home from a morning of the market and even more Christmas shopping, he sat with Maddy to make the "Ginger House."

Clearly I was not involved in this project -- look at how neat it all is.

Then -- after organizing and wrapping, he donned the suit, and along with his littlest elf in blue, went from neighbor to neighbor delivering goodies in the foggy, cold Veneto night air.

Maddy was sad to miss the one neighbor she thought would enjoy Santa the most. Reports from each of the concerned neighbors were that she had quite a fever. (Now, how did everyone know that?)

I'm pretty sure that each kid knew the true identity of the tall guy speaking accented Italian; however, it did what we intended and created lots of smiles and good feelings, especially for Maddy. Aren't you always looking for ways to teach them, to show them that's it's the giving that counts, the giving that brings the joy to everyone?
Tonight we plan to share a pot of chicken and andouille (thanks, Dad) gumbo with neighbors, and tomorrow we'll be heading to a restaurant to spend the day with friends.
Merry Christmas Everyone.
