Stairs in Tile

The stairs from the taverna to the first floor will be in tile. I would perfer wood -- just cause it looks better and to keep it all consistent. They (Ghiotto and tile guy) insist that wooden stairs in that area are not a good idea because they wouldn't hold up over time because of wear and tear. Again. . .huh?
