corner view:  water

Welcome!  This weeks theme is from Trinsch

I've just returned from a trip to Napoli, a beloved city who offers countless opportunities for images of water.  I had big plans for photos of l'aqua; unfortunately, there was a bit too much water in the form of rain and fog, so my dear camera remained safe and snug in my bag most of the time :(

A Rainy Thursday Afternoon in the Heart of Naples

Instead, I offer a piece about a way that l'aqua calda (hot water) is  currently important in my life.  The temperatures have dropped, and while we've delayed it a bit, it's time to get the heat going in this little casa of ours.

We have a system of riscaldamento pavimento,  or floor heating, in our home sweet home.  It's essentially a series of tubes beneath the flooring through which the hot water circulates, providing ambient heat for our home.

A Sample from a Showroom in Grumolo

Yep.  It's nice.  Really nice.  In our house is takes a day or so to get going . . . so our toes are cold, very cold.  I hope you are warm and cozy in your corner of the world.

Jane from Spain is still out and about -- lucky girl.  We miss your besos, Jane.  Hurry back!  Thanks again Trinsch for a great theme.

I, having totally forgotten to ask someone else to do so,  have selected next week's theme for us: contrasts. Take it where you care to, i miei cv amici.

And, while I'm thinking of it:   Joyce, would you mind selecting the theme for the following week? I'd sure appreciate it greatly, my friend.  I think Ms. Jane might be home in Spain by then.

the most important job

This weekend there was a wedding in the neighborhood of Volla, in the heart of Napoli.

Mr. Duncan quizzed Madelyn over and over before the wedding:  "Who is the most important person today?"  Eventually, I think, she understood, but knowing did not diminish her excitement to follow closely behind the bride as she entered the church.  Giovanna may have been the most important person, but clearly Madelyn & her little friend had the most important job.

More images later . . . it's a busy week :)  The wedding was gorgeous.

summer sunday: stintino, sardinina

Oh me.  Oh my.
Words are lame.  Images must suffice in describing Stintino.

We spent only one day at this beach because it was quite a drive away from our home base.  Even though it was FULL of people (a usual turn off for me) & a bit windy,  we managed to carve out our little square of real estate and enjoy a day of lounging, building, frolicking, and people watching.  The best part?  It's BYOU -- bring your own umbrella, at this stretch of free public beach.  Good stuff, folks. (PS. I made Mr. Duncan wear the silly baseball cap.  He's not a hat man . . . but that sun is fierce, I tell you.  He's a fair-skinned man.)

Grazie Mille

Wow!
Thanks, Jane. And thanks to everyone else for taking time to visit and comment. Since I'm not snuggled in my little corner as I type but rather in the big city down south, I can't pay you a visit just yet. I'll be around soon.

We've found plenty of water in the form of rain today.

Ciao now!

This week's theme is from Kay:  "my dream."

Hello, my name is Dana and I am not a dreamer. There, I said it. (I'm now running for cover.)
I am much too analytical and goal-oriented to get lost in dreams . . .  a weakness, I know . . . sometimes even a curse.   I have some travel plans, some goals for my future, and some hopes for my daughter;  I don't see them as dreams, but as tasks to accomplish, things to do.  Unfortunately,  I can't get past "plans, hopes & goals" and into the dream realm of life.   Love me the way I am :)

The closest thing to "my dream,"  more of a passing thought of "wouldn't it be nice to"  is to become a professional photographer and graphic artist; however, after having recently taken on some photography gigs in the name of fundraisers for school, I can only think of this dream as slightly out of focus, like my self-portrait.    Ahhh . . . such is life!

-----------------------------------------

And since our dear friend Jane is globe trotting, she has asked me to host Corner View for a bit.  Me.  A guest host. . . now there is a dream :)  Grazie,  Kay,  for the "my dream" theme.

Next week´s theme is from Trinsch : water or l'aqua.   I'm headed to Bella Napoli today for a Friday wedding.  Think I'll find l'aqua there?
