Yesterday we rode out to the opposite side of the province to select our tree . . . not a common Italian ritual but one that did include the Italian who owns the plot of land where the trees grow. This was year number three.
Maddy took some time out to explain, of all things, Pompeii and Vesuvius to her two little friends, who were eager to listen. She's never visited either location, only seen the volcano from afar in October; give the girl a couple of books on the topic & she quickly becomes a little Ms. Know-It-All. It's always amazing to me what will peak her curiosity or hold her interest.

the second shot is too adorable.:)
That's so sweet. How old is Maddy?
If she liked that story, she might like the story of the Ice Man that was found in the mountains between Innsbruck and Italy. In German he is called Oetzi and he now lives in Bolzano in a museum. My boys love this story. Someday we are taking them to meet him.
She's five and a half. . .
Hello 3InGiro, I can understand Maddy's fascination for Pompei! It's one of the most amazing stories that history has brought us, the tragedy, the natural catastrophe, the archaeology finds, the accounts from latin authors ... (I'm writing all this, and I've never even read books on the topic:)!) - is it a holiday for you too today and tomorrow?
