my child's mind

Recently Maddy & I watched a neighbor baby, Daniele, for a few hours -- a delightfully happy, sweet Italian baby boy a little less than a year old.

For Maddy it was no less than spectacular to have Baby Daniele all to herself without the watchful eye of his big brother. A fairly patient little guy, he allowed Maddy the treat of having a live doll all her own. I enjoyed talking to someone who couldn't talk back or ask a million questions. . . .

At a certain point Maddy, annoyed & righteous, said to me: Momma, you know he is Italian. Stop talking to him in English. He won't understand you. You have to talk to him like I do, only in Italian.

Daniele replied: Baababaa, gagagga, babaaaaaa, pluuuttttttt!

Okay, Baby Girl, if you insist. . . Ciao, amore :)
