10: street fashion
In the cities of Italy the opportunities to capture magnificent images of street fashion are endless. I don't have any, not a one. Well, I have one that I could pass off as street fashion . . . but it is pretty lame & falls more appropriately into a category of a fashion faux pas -- I won't insult you with it.
I have not been to a true Italian city (well, except for Venice, if that counts) all year long; we are taking it easy, living a slower life out in the country, capturing images like these as we explore the hiking paths, back roads, and country lanes of the Veneto:

. . . and witnessing things like this as they happen on my street in my little paese. How do you like this for street fashion?Surely you can find some great images of street fashion in other parts of the world:

Enjoy your slower pace of life and your holiday. Hope you'll get to visit some of our cities too, you're not too far from many of them (the tourist office is paying me a small commission for adversiting Italian cities on your blog:)). Ciao!
Love that street fashion. Are the kids taking their communion?
Love that th procession is just going on the corner.
We also enjoy the slow life in a very small village in the country.
Have a great day!
procession as a street fashion !!! joli clin d'oeil ; )
I love your post especially the last photo. That's definitely street fashion for an Italian town. We stumbled onto a similar event - St. Anthony's Feast - when we were in the Little Italy section of Boston one year - it was fascinating to see the streets transformed.
The slower pace in Italy is the way to go. After getting back from my trip, I didn't second guess not standing in long touristy lines... such a beautiful place to just sit back and take it all in.
I think the last picture is a perfect example of local street fashion. I could not walk out my door and see something like that. Very pretty!
Hey, What about your ladies in the fur coats from last winter's market?? They were great!
interesting streets. The last picture is great.
Love your view. Sometimes it's good to take the slow life and breathe... Sounds lovely and I am packing my bags!
THanks for the comments, guys. Karen, I actually contemplated the furs. . . it's just too dang warm already. They are actually celebrating the Feast of Corpus Christi, which although is not the first communion of the young people pictured, is about the communion, the host, the body of Christ.. . .or so I've read online ;)
hey dana! great post... thanks for this. i always love your views! besos-jane (and thanks for the other day- you have a big heart:))
what do you wear when you get dressed up? love the procession. such a different perspective there.
Love the procession on your street, the "umbrella" is particularly sweet... ah to be back in Europe...
Great shots Dana. What event was that? Church? Wedding? Festival? BTW, I posted the only shot I got of the martian lady. It was under the disguise of photographing my dog so I got her feet. FUNNNNY!
I love this kind of ´Street Fashion´. The slow life in Italy...I could get used to that...easily! ;)
