corner view
4: (grocery) shopping

With all of the fantastic shopping, specialty shops, and colorful markets that fill Italia, it may seem a mundane choice for corner view #4. However. . . 3 minutes on foot from my front door & always a warm welcome --- that's what makes this shopping option top on my list:

One shopping option in Lumignano is La Bottega.

Although it is part of a chain of small grocery stores that dot my area of Italy, this one is a family run business: Nonna is always at the register, her son Matteo acts as the butcher, and Matteo's very reserved wife can be found stocking shelves. Of course, the two little girls Elena & Angela are the reason to visit. . . . that and Matteo's salsicce (sausages).

Short distance, warm people, and ... those beautiful green wooden shutters, I would add!

Why is blogger making decisions for me and automatically assigning me a profile I don't have?!?!

It is a jam-packed little store with all the essentials. The produce is a bit iffy on some days, but, hey, you can get a pack of t-shirts there as well -- a little mutli-purpose stop. Oddly, it always has what I need, what I've forgotten.
I think it important to patronize the local places in my efforts to gain acceptance in this little rural town.

I love that you know everyone in the store. We don't have that much here. Nice post!

Oh I would love to meet Nonna, Matteo, his wife and Elena & Angela. You made me feel like I was tagging along with you.

Your corner view is anything, but mundane!... it's stores like this that would fill the pages of a story book of the beauty of every day life... working together as a family, life at a slower pace, getting to know the people in your community instead of rushing past everyone as if they were just another number, just another clerk. I know that this place is full of character and charm... love it!
