Our Easter Part 1: The Eggs

We did manage to have a lovely Easter with a group that included friends, family, and neighbors. There were many eggs. . . lots and lots and lots of eggs: fresh eggs, plastic eggs, chocolate eggs, little eggs, hidden eggs, colored eggs, and even deviled eggs.

Maddy woke to a basket full of jelly bean-filled eggs left by the Bunny himself. This girl doesn't like chocolate, so no traditional bunny for her! Oh, and there was a hen sitting atop that basket . . because if you have so many eggs, well, you have to have a chicken or two. Right?

On the way to mass, she discovered that someone left a collection of eggs hidden among the tulips. Could it have been the Easter Bunny? Or maybe just a friendly neighbor?

We got busy Saturday, and didn't manage to dye the eggs. (Bad Momma!) We did it Sunday directly after mass. Hey, I did have them boiled AND remembered to buy the dye kit.

And while dying eggs, we received one visitor after another -- each of the neighbors -- to wish us Auguri and Buona Pasqua. Each one of those brought a traditional Italian Easter egg. These are the favorites of children as each hollow egg contains a special prize. Maddy was given six of these eggs this year. That's lots of chocolate. . . all for a girl who doesn't like it.
