Bampire -- or The First of Many Arguments Between Maddy and Me

(From a little Halloween song that Maddy continues to sing way past Halloween.)

"He's a bampire.
He's a bampire."

I corrected Maddy a while ago, telling her it's "vampire" and not "bampire." She, I thought, was okay with that because she switched to "vampire."

Well. . . until she double-checked with Veronica her native Italian, English teacher, who evidently assured her that it is indeed pronounced "bampire." I tried to tell her differently again; she gave me the type of glare that a daughter can give a mother and informed me that it is not "vampire" because "Eronica" said so. In fact, she became quite irrate that I would suggest otherwise and an exchange of words between the two of us, each insisting that she is correct, ensued.

Luckily, Mr. Duncan was present, and he was able to quell the argument before permanent damage could be done.

Thanks, "Eronica," from the asilo we love so much.

{Ironically, I remember having similar arguments with my mother, master math and science teacher, as she tried to help with homework. "That is NOT the way to do it. It is NOT the way the teacher showed us how to do it. YOU are wrong." Oh, how I remember those times.}
