Yesterday I sat through a faculty meeting after school – a necessary evil. It’s best to go with a good attitude and a commitment to refrain from commenting or arguing about anything. Unfortunately, many of my colleagues refuse to make such a commitment, quite the opposite – sad because healthy discourse is rare in this environment. My time is wasted.
At any rate, the aspect of the meeting worthy of sharing was discipline. The two most pressing discipline issues in our school at the moment are gum chewing and dress code (cleavage and butt crack, to be exact). Not drugs, not skipping class, not disrespect, not failure to do homework, not truancy, not even iPods and cell phones – gum chewing and dress code.
Some things never change.
(Other issues like cliques and bullying and depression and theft exist in our school– but not in an all encompassing, school-wide way.)
