In the course of yesterday evening, we were offered fresh trout and fresh mushrooms by Lumignano neighbors, two different families. The trout is from a fish farm near Vicenza that has to change the water and has to get rid of the trout presently in the water. (Maybe a little was lost in the translation?) The mushrooms – another neighbor guy is going to Austria for a three-day mushroom hunting expedition! Apparently there are many varieties of mushrooms to be found, but the only one we recognized as he spouted out the list was “fungi porcini.” He is quite the mushroom hunter and has even taken courses on the art. If mission is successful that he’ll share some with us.
