Productive Saturday!

Boy did we have a good day. . .knocked several things off of the never ending "to do" list that we've created.

First up -- we installed these rods and hung these curtains. This is currently what we call a WIP {work in progress} . . .but at least now we have a better idea for the space. I'll update when we update.

We've been casually looking for some new furniture (chairs mainly--see problem in above photo), but all of our attempts have been futile. This morning we stopped by here:

And, we scored! I liked it so much, I asked them to throw in the tables too. The price did hurt a little, even with the 20% sale on the floor models -- but we'll soon get over it. It was the first time that we both saw something and agreed immediately. I would call it transitional style.

Then we made a trip to the "vivaio," or nursery. Last week Ferruccio offered to bring us to his vivaio; we agreed, even though we have been to nurseries many times before. The benefit? We got a personal shopper. Instead of wondering around aimlessly trying to make sense of everything, I had conversations like this:
"Yes. I would like an evergreen, flowering plant that can take some serious sun and will cascade over the edge," And. . . Voila! bearberry dammeri.
"Grazie. I would like an olive tree for this size area," and. . .voila! this one is perfect!
"Oh, yes, there is more. Can you tell me how many jasmine plants I will need to cover this area?"
And so it went. Easy. Even with my butchered Italian. Easy. So different from the customer service earlier this week.

This is our loot -- some jasmine, a couple of cypress, a box of seeds for ground cover, several Bearberry dammeri, some big rocks, and the piece de resistance -- a wee olive tree.

When we got home we created this -- another WIP.

All the while, Maddy enjoys the time outside playing with Matteo, four-year-old neighbor number 4.

. . . and so we start with our little garden patch.

The jasmine and cypress are on the front patio. More on that later.
