More Work on Veneziana

They've done yet another step in the process of the Veneziana flooring -- a bit of oil. The final thing they'll do with it is a wax at the very end of everything. (Yet another person who wants to be "last.")

Yesterday we went to Venice with Emma, and, yes, this type of flooring is found there. It's older, and a bit different, but it's the same idea. Didn't get a pic of it, but I do have this lovely photo of Emma to share.

For those of you who have been to Venice, you'll notice the absence of the pigeons in this photo taken in Piazza San Marco. It is now (thankfully) illegal to feed the pigeons in Venice. There are still a few hundred hanging out and there are still stubborn tourists feeding them bread and such -- but no more mass infestations kept fed by the photo hungry tourists buying seeds from the conveniently located vendors. (Emma was quite peeved that she didn't get the cool pigeon photos that her sister did a year or so ago. Gross!)
