There is one all-important document that we must have to proceed with everything. It's called a "Richiesta per Abitabila." The notaio needs it, the bank needs it, the utility company needs it. Who gets it for us? The efficient architect. He should have done it by now. He hasn't. He is going on vacation earlier than most, late this week. If he doesn't do it tomorrow -- all bets are off for the closing and the utilities. It will have to wait until September. Interest rates are set to increase, again.
We have been promised by Ghiotto and Giorgio that we will have the document by the end of the week. We even requested that the realtor call and push them a little, and they assured Massimo that the architect will do it before vacation.
Richard has faith. I don't believe them for a minute. It is much better to assume that they are lying and won't deliver and be delightfully surprised when they do, than to face the disappoint that having faith in them brings all too often.
They lie to save face. Period. They will not tell me in advance that it is not possible. They prefer to make excuses after the fact, and not until I inquire. Of course, they are all so sorry, and, of course, it is through no fault of theirs. Somehow this is better than being up front --
Oh, the document -- it's just a request to the town to have the house inspected to be deemed habitable. The request is sufficient. Often the inspection never takes place within the 30 day time frame and the house is automatically deemed habitable. How ya like them beans?
