There are many technology gadgets Richard included that remain a bit fuzzy to me. Here are some that I am know about:
We have an alarm connected to the windows that can be set also when we are in the house.
We have a video "citofono" -- door bell with a camera. (Totally unnecessary, in my humble opinion.)
The front gate can be opened with the telephone.
I think that a computer may be involved in some way.
Two air conditioners.
Light dimmers.
A feature pretty standard here, but that I love, love, love -- light switches at the head of the bed. How cool is that?
One light switch near a door that turns off every light in the house at once.
These little gadgets are in each room to regulate the heat room by room, not to be confused with the thermostat for each zone.
I think that these emergency lights are required by law.
This is in the living area and includes connections for speaker wires (surround sound, sort of), an electrical outlet, a phone jack, and satellite connection. They are just missing the final plates. These types of things are found in the rooms throughout the house -- not really anything different than Stateside.
The contradiction? There is no DSL, no cable connection, no ADSL, nothing fast"left" in this area. That's right, we've been told that only a limited number were available, and they are all gone, finito. As far as we know, dial up is the option for us. High Tech.
