The notaio was clearly the youngest person and one of only three females in a room of about 10 people, yet the respect that her mere presence commanded was unlike anything that I've seen yet in Italy. No wisecracks out of Ghiotto. No posturing by the bank. No problems. Respectful. Formal. Business. No foolishness. I knew previously that notaio is a prestigious position -- but I suppose that I didn't quite get it until the meeting. I've never experienced that in the States -- not sure that I ever would. Would it be with a doctor? a lawyer? Not so certain.
A bonus for us is that she speaks perfect English and seemed to enjoy providing us with a translation of the document that she read aloud -- almost too much informaton, in fact.
Did you know that the position of pharmacist is just as prestigious (and lucrative) in Italy?
