We are in the early stages of planning the kitchen. We have visited several retail stores in search of a kitchen and even had one place draft a plan for us, but we hadn't been completely satisfied with any of our efforts. A colleague and friend mentioned once that her brother-in-law did such work for a living, and she graciously agreed to put us in touch with him, Riccardo. (Funny, when word got out around work that I was in need of a kitchen, two other Italians approached me with kitchen contacts. We'd rather stick with a known source.)
We have many details to work out. The bottom line is that the space is small, very small. Some things we know we want for sure: white/ivory painted cabinents; a 90 cm range top with 5 or 6 burners; a quiet dishwasher; an oven elevated in a column with a microwave above it; stone (real or manufactured?) countertops (anything over tile); small European style fridge with cabinent facing; big drawers in lieu of most bottom cabinents; fancy smancy Italian thing to make use of space in corner bottom cabinents. We are also trying to work in a corner sink.
We had hoped for a bar, but, geez. . .did I mention that the space is small? We will probably opt for a freestanding one a bit later. (It would be great if we could use the beautiful custom-made one Nando made for Richard in 2001, but even it may be too big.)
