Custom Windows

A year or so ago a friend of mine shared with me that as she was looking into adding screens to the windows in her rental house, she discovered that all windows in Italy are custom windows. Today the window guy confirmed this to us. There are, unbelievably, no standard sizes here. Each window is crafted to fit the space available for it. (I still have doubt -- but he assured us.)

We selected painted white wooden windows. This photo isn't too great - but it gives the idea. The windows are double-paned and energy efficient. In our house most of the windows are the height of doors (think -- French doors), even though they don't open to balconies. (Hmmm?) We really enjoy the opening options, tilt and swing mode, offered by the European windows.
