"Chiave in Mano"
We have agreed to purchase a completely finished house from Ghiotti. Italians even use the same expression "chiave in mano" (key in hand) that we use. "Chiave in mano" in Italy is a bit different than in the States, as it does not include a kitchen (just the hook ups) or some other essential objects -- like light fixtures. I recently learned that a finshed bathroom does not include a mirror; however, it does include the all-essential bidet along with a toilet, sink, and a tub or shower. These are all expenses above the price of the house and thus the mortgage amount. Ghiotti has given us a list of contractors that we must now contact in order to make choices about the house. We have actually been in contact with a couple of them; however, since it is August and the traditional Italian exodus to the beaches and mountains is in full swing, we don't expect to make much progress on this for now.
