Life is the Same the World Over

We met Senor Ghiotti's (the builder) son and his wife Angela at the contract signing. Ghiotti originally built the structure for Angela and him to move into -- however, she strongly objected, not wanting to leave her home of 20 years in the neighborhood of her friends and family. The son's wife objected as well. Angela told us that last summer, every evening after dinner Ghiotti would take her for a ride out to Lumignano in an attempt to convince her of its charms; she is relieved that the house is sold. The men agreed that life is the same all over the world -- the woman decides. (Richard, like Angela, is not too excited about the sleepy little, somewhat isolated, Lumignano, but he is coming around a bit at a time. Our other choice would be to purchase a shoebox in Vicenza for nearly double the amount-- probably without any parking.)
