summer sunday: tinnura

I sometimes wonder what else a first-time visitor to my hometown in Louisiana may find amazing or intriguing, what I might fail to mention as it seems so ordinary to me.  Over time, I've learned that people are mesmerized by the Mississippi River, by her girth and her power, as well as the man-made levee created to harness her.   Most first-time visitors are also intrigued with the cypress swamps.  I've learned to describe those things, but possibly more exists.

When I visited Tinnura on the west coast of Sardinia for the first time, I was in absolute awe of the murals that covered the exterior walls of this tiniest of villages. Christian, whose mother grew up in Tinnura, who has visited there at least once of year for every year of his life, who is in love with Sardinina . . . he failed to mention them.

Incredible.

And then there was this fountain, right outside of the family residence:

He failed to mention that, as well.  Funny how that works, don't you think?

They are quite striking. Glad you took notice, I didn't even know they existed!

Those are incredible. This is the second post I have read this evening about Sardinia. Headed now to see if there is a ferry from Sicily? It is now very high on my travel list. And I agree with you...it is funny to think about what gets noticed/mentioned. Things that seem so ordinary because they are a part of daily life are quite extraordinary when viewed with fresh eyes (or those of visitors!). Thanks for sharing this view of Sardinia.
