On his first evening as a guest in the Parent house. . . .
Mr. Duncan: You guys don't recycle?
Everyone reacts differently to this imperfectly perfect house. I absolutely love it and all that it encompasses: its past, its future. My favorite part is the ceiling in the kitchen, which is made of reclaimed wood from the house. Mr. Duncan is in love with the expansive porch.
My sister and I agree that either you "get" this or you don't. Either you accept crooked walls and uneven creaky floors with original wood . . . or you don't. If you do, and would like to know more about the recycling of the house, you can check out her blog. She is busy, so don't expect too many details. :) The "before" pics are quite amazing.

I'm confused...this house isn't in Italy, is it?
Oh! Sorry for the confusion. My sister, along with the rest of my family, lives in the US. This house is in Louisiana.
Beautiful. That's where the tub of my dreams comes from, it does fit perfectly with the rest of the house.
It is a beautiful house! Too bad they don't make 'em like that in Italy!
Had I stayed in the States, this would have been the house of my dreams. I love older homes that seem to have charm in every corner. In Northern Germany on can definitely find older homes, but usually made of brick and never with a wrap around porch. Simply lovely!
i love it, too. after seeing some flimsy new construction in the States with paper doors. . . i totally understand the need for something like this.
i love my italian home, too! mostly bc it is mine! (okay. . .it belongs to the bank. . . but after 14 more years, it'll be ours.) Also. . . it is solid & will stand the test of time like the recycled house.
