the other side at the beach

Mr. Duncan's brother and sister-in-law invited us to join them for a sojourn at their beach house in Sandbridge, Virginia. The days we spent there allowed Maddy some great bonding time with this side of our family, which is bit different from the other side.

Maddy and Uncle John put the pole in the water at his dock a couple of mornings. The fish were no longer biting by the time Maddy woke each day, but she enjoyed it nonetheless.

The major difference is that Maddy's cousins on this side of the family are all young adults, some recent college grads and others fresh out of high school. She loved every minute of interacting with them and their friends who popped in and out all week.

Cousin Christopher and his friend Roy convinced her to go out into the bay in the canoe. It was a short-lived voyage.

This Beach Week has been a tradition of theirs for many, many years. . . dates way back to when these two sisters, Kaitlyn and Emma, were Maddy's age; I'm overjoyed that we have finally had the opportunity to join them and look forward to making this an annual trip.

If you go to Stuttgart in the Fall, you should also check out the Ludwigsburg Castle in Ludwidsburg about 20 minutes north of the city. In the fall, they have really cool pumpkin sculptures throughout the park. They are really amazing. The Castle is really beautiful better than the one located in Stuttgart and the grounds also have a fun Fairytale theme park for kids but it is low tech not an amusement park by any means. I am sure you could find information about it on the internet.
