A couple of offerings this Thursday:
Greens pulled straight from the earth. I cut the roots, cleaned them well, covered them in olive oil and a bit of salt and pepper. . . . just doesn't get much better than that. Imagine, excitement over lettuce!
The lettuces were excellent, but the true treat at this time of year is the cherries. Oh, the cherries! And as a little bonus she gave us a couple of strawberries. Maddy opened the fridge Friday to find an almost-empty bowl and was quiet upset. "Who has eaten my cherries?" she demanded.

We also always appreciate the produce treats from our neighbors, and never quite know how to show them our gratitude: they make, grow etc everything!
Fruit and vegetables always taste so much better when they come from straight from a garden. I am very envious of those cherries, we are still waiting for ours to ripen.
i hear you. we must go through a kilo of cherries a day. love them! besos-jane
Your neighbors also grow cherries? I can't believe they are already done. It is still cool here (though Thursday is supposed to be HOT). Last night there was a frost advisory for the suburbs. My plants are slowly coming along. I love watching them grow and am terribly upset when they don't.

Les,
They have a little bit of everything. .. every season. They work, work, work, and work some more. He, you know, still works full time in a nearby factory. They garden (or farm) out of pleasure, and maybe just a bit, tiny little bit, of necessity. They are certainly country folks who live a country life. So far, they have been wonderful to us.
Our garden is coming along too. Slowly.
