Waiting

Italians generally hold out on placing Jesus in the cradle until he is indeed born.

Makes sense, doesn't it?

This simple nativity is located in the courtyard of an important civic building in Vicenza. I'm completely oblivious as to whether this causes a stir -- but I seriously doubt it.


We've been gone a while, but it seems that such a scene would not be possible in a similar location Stateside.

A simple wooden cross which was part of a Christmas display in Pontchatoula was challenged by ACLU - and removed from city site. Businesses then began to display the cross citywide...

Last year the first day they put up the creche at my son's school I asked where the baby was. They looked at me like I was an idiot and then slowly explained that his birthday was Dec 25th! They probably think Americans are the worst bunch of catholics!-- Karen
