Saturday's Rescue

The rock climbing wanes a bit as winter approaches, but we've had some pretty nice fall days recently, and the climbers have been spotted quite a bit. Saturday was such a day.
One poor guy fell, causing unbelievable drama in little ole Lumignano.
The incredibly loud rescue copter brought everyone out of their homes. We had front row seats right on our patio.

Soon, most folks looked just like this.

It took nearly an hour for the entire rescue, which concluded with the guy being lifted on the stretcher. We later learned that there was a problem with the copter and this is actually copter #2; also, the climber is okay with only a broken leg. Word has it that he slipped and only fell a meter. There was a huge fear among the locals that perhaps he was dead since the rescue was taking such a long time.

My friend Adam assures me that rock climbing is safe, safe, safe. The accidents are usually due to carelessness.
