And it's a good thing, because we got our first impromptu Italian visitors; M is back and this time he brought his wife D along. What a pair!
Richard was gone, so Maddy and I hosted them alone.

They brought these fresh-picked grapes (taste like Welches grape juice) and wanted to thank me for some pumpkin cookies I sent home with Mario after the chestnut fiasco. {He wants more, so I'll be baking again soon.}

They asked for a drink, so the conversation at the table began. I learned that if I go out at 6 am I can hear certain birds -- especially an owl nearby.
I tried to explain a little of the Halloween tradition to them since Maddy had a coloring book on the table. This gave me an idea to have a little pumpkin carving gathering with the neighbors.
Also, he invited us to his place Sunday night to share in some "marrone" -- I think dialect for chestnuts.
M and D are quite the couple -- town clowns both.. I am sure that I'll have lots to share about them for some time. M is a retired painter. Last night I learned that D has a passion for ironing. (I think he may have been offering her services to us.)
